Important:Please only use the songs as provided for
scoring
Do Not score any of the songs from other versions or
from other sources (youTube, Spotify, etc). By following this
rule everyone is scoring for
exactly the same recording.
How To Score The Songs
By taking part, you agree to listen to each song
submitted at least once in it's entirety, even if you
have heard it before or think you don't like what it
is!
Score each track 0.5 - 10 (no zeroes)
You may use half points (0.5), The lowest score allowed is 0.5.
You may score two or more songs with the same score.
Try to use the whole 'bandwidth' of scores
available. Someone who scores only within the middle of
the bandwidth for all rounds actually makes very little
difference to the outcome.
How to score is really up to the individual, and
everyone will have their own particular methods.
Obviously if it's really bad score it low, BUT give some
consideration before handing out the dreaded 1s and 2s
etc,
there could be something even worse in future rounds!!
The same applies to the upper-most scores.
IMPORTANT! Relevance to the theme: The game
revolves around themes. If a song is not relevant
to the theme then it is only fair that it loses points,
even if it's a good song.
If you feel that a song does not fit within the
theme (Read the rounds criteria), score it
as normal, and then deduct Up
To Three Points (You decide how much of a
crime it is!) from that total. Note that the rule
regards lowest mark is still observed, so if it's really
bad and not relevant, score it no lower than 0.5.
You should also deduct points if the song (in the
same version) has been entered in previous games.
Scores should be emailed to
Kevin ASAP and within the agreed time frame, see
Speed of play below.
Please use the Score Charts provided.
Speed Of Play
Keep the game moving at the agreed rate. (see
emails)
A countdown timer to the end of the round is
displayed on the Home Page
VERY IMPORTANT! If you are going to be
away, or late submitting your scores for any reason,
Please let Kevin know -
beforehand! If you know you will be away please try to
listen to rounds ahead of time and submit these scores
before going away.
A Reminder email will be sent around the mid-point
of each round.
Once most scores have been received, Kevin will send
further emails regards 'holding up the game'.
Please do not take offence, others are now waiting on
you for the game to move on.
The deadline date is only
there as an ultimate final date!
Please DO NOT discuss the current, or
future, rounds with other players in any way whatsoever.
With this rule observed no one gets to know
who submitted what until the result of each
round is published.
The above rule applies to all activities including
email and various social media such as FaceBook, etc.
Please do not post youTube links on FaceBook, etc to any
of the songs in the current or future rounds until after
the result of the round is published - Again, this gives
the game away.
In other words..... Don't spoil it!
Duplicated Song Rules
From time to time, more than one person will enter the
same song, either within the same round or over two or more
rounds. When this occurs, the following takes place:
Same Song In A Single Round
There will be only one file of the song in
the folder
(i.e: Less songs than players)
Note: If
two different versions are supplied, both
will feature in the game and should be scored as
separate songs.
Everyone will be asked to supply the score for
their own song in this round
The scores of the duplicated song from those who
submitted it will be added together and then divided
by the number of people who submitted it, rounded
down to the nearest 0.5.
Everyone else's score for their own song will be
ignored and not count towards the songs overall
score.
This score will then be awarded from each other
duplicated song player to those others with the same
song
By using this method, each player with the same
song will all have scored each others identical song
the same
Please be honest with your scoring - Just
because you submitted the song doesn't mean an
automatic ten - No really it doesn't! Think about it!
Example (based on two players entering the same
song):
Player 1 scores it 8, Player 2 Scores it
9
Total = 17
Divided by 2 = 8.5.
Each player therefore scores the other 8.5
points
Same Song Entered Over Two Or More Rounds
First time round is scored as per normal
Second (and any other) round, the scores from the first time
round will be used
However, the person who submitted it in the
previous round now scores it here.
If you are involved in such a situation, DO NOT reveal
it’s you until after the ‘sequence’ is complete in
your email conversations.
